The Client
In 2022, a Nigerian entrepreneur approached our consulting arm, GDI Innovations Limited, with a business that was still on paper: a plan to build an ERP consulting and implementation firm out of Nigeria. At the time, the firm had one employee — the co-founder himself — and no formal operating structure.
The client is anonymised in this case study. The engagement and its outcomes are shared in full.
The Challenge
Starting any consulting business is difficult. Starting an ERP consulting business in Nigeria is harder still, because:
- The market is dominated by established integrators with long track records.
- ERP implementation demands deep technical, functional, and change-management capability.
- Client trust must be earned project by project — with no margin for a poor delivery.
- Scaling requires hiring, structuring, and retaining specialised talent in a competitive market.
The founder understood that winging it would not work. He wanted a structured business analysis and strategic blueprint before committing to a growth path — an unusual discipline for a brand-new firm.
Our Approach
1. IP-Driven Founder & Co-Founder Evaluation
We applied our proprietary IP tools from the Pulser platform:
- CorePulse — to measure each founder's archetype, mental resilience, and natural strengths.
- FitPulse — to map founders to roles that matched their intrinsic capabilities rather than aspirational titles.
- TeamPulse — to measure communication flow and identify where friction would arise as the team grew.
These assessments informed role clarity from day one — a rare asset for a startup whose founders would otherwise define roles by trial and error.
2. Organisational Model (MO) Assessment
We analysed how the firm intended to sell, deliver, and support ERP projects. We identified structural gaps: unclear service ownership, undefined delivery methodology, no quality gates, no scalable engagement model. Each gap was addressed in the blueprint.
3. Strategic Blueprint
We produced the firm's first strategic blueprint — a document that defined:
- Service offerings and productised engagements
- Delivery methodology and quality gates
- Team structure and hiring sequence
- Client acquisition model and target segments
- Financial model and unit economics
- 90-day, 12-month, and 36-month milestones

Why This Case Study Matters to You
Two audiences will find this case study valuable.
If you are a founder building a consulting, technology, or services business in Nigeria: this is what a disciplined start looks like. A proper business analysis, founder evaluation, and strategic blueprint at the beginning changes the trajectory of the firm.
If you are evaluating ERP software: this case study is the strongest possible proof of Pulser's quality. An Odoo Gold Partner — a firm whose entire business is implementing ERP for other companies — chose Pulser to run its own HR, performance, and productivity. That is not a marketing claim. It is a working, paid, ongoing customer relationship.
The strategic blueprint GDI Innovations produced in 2022 gave our young firm a clear operating structure that has held up through four years of rapid growth. Their ongoing HR retainer and Pulser platform run our people operations today, and the IP evaluation tools remain central to how we build our teams.
